SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO: Serbian Police to Take Over Kosovo Border
The Serbian Interior Ministry is to take over responsibility tomorrow for security of the state border, including the administrative border with Kosovo. Border patrol has previously been the responsibility of the Serbia-Montenegro Army.

The decision was agreed to by the federal cabinet on January 26 and will be ratified by legislation in the near future.

The Serbian Interior Ministry will absorb army border guards who have been securing the border to date, and the army will also supply resources needed.

The change has been made to bring the state’s practices into line with those of other European countries.
