The European Union Force (EUFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) announced Tuesday it will close down a number of military facilities, in particular those underground, in response to strong evidence that they have been used by war crimes indictees.
EUFOR has so far conducted 20 unannounced inspections of military facilities in Republika Srpska (RS) and the BiH federation, many of which will be sealed, EUFOR said in a statement. A small number of military installations, required for legitimate defense reasons or civilian use, will continue working and BiH authorities have been asked to identify the facilities they wish to retain.
