In the latest report on Kosovo, the Swisspeace Foundation says the situation in Kosovo has been significantly improved following the March riots, however, the current situation can not be an indicator of durable stability.
Economic situation, diminishing of aid money from Diaspora and foreign donors, high unemployment rate as well as the general frustration triggered by unsolved Kosovo's issue as the main reasons that obstruct the ultimate stabilization of the situation in Kosovo, the report says.
The vast majority of Swisspeace Foundation report on Kosovo is dedicated on bloody riots that stormed Kosovo last March, when large number of Kosovar Serbs had been driven out of their homes, their houses were demolished or set on fire, and dozens of Serbs were killed in clashes with Albanian protesters.
The Foundation reckons that the Kosovo government did not do enough to establish the causes of March unrest in the UN-governed province. Given the fact that nobody knows the real reasons that ignited the March riots, there is a potential risk for another episode of March events.
