If the Montenegrin Parliament adopts the law about limiting the use of tobacco products, smokers in that republic will be thrown into a regime of isolation.
A special smoking area will be designated for smokers. If anyone dares to light-up in a public place, he/she will have to pay a fine of ˆ25. Newspapers and other media, according to the law regulation, won't be allowed to publish photographs, nor cartoons of persons who are smoking.
A law proposal forbids the sale of cigarettes at a distance of at least 150 m from schools, and vending machines for the sale of cigarettes will be removed from sports-recreation buildings.
Cigarette advertising and various promotions of tobacco products will also be banned.
Fines for lawbreakers are intended to be in the amount of 20 to 300 of the lowest city prices in Montenegro, which is presently ˆ1000 to ˆ15 000.
According to some earlier information, Montenegro has about 250 000 smokers.
