BULGARIA: Militzer&Munch Cargo Terminal Opens at Sofia Airport
M&M Air Cargo Services BG, a subsidiary of international forwarders Militzer&Munch, has opened a cargo terminal at the Sofia International Airport that will be used exclusively for air transportation, the company's managing director Mihail Danchev said on Wednesday, Dnevnik Daily reports.

The 1.2 mln levs facility will absorb another 200,000 levs by the end of the year, an investment the company is confident will be recouped in some three to four years.

The terminal sprawls over 5,200 sq m, with 75% of the storage area already rented to imports. It is already handling some 25 tons of incoming cargo daily.

The terminal is built on the site of the sanitary cargo terminal of the defunct Balkan Airlines which M&M Air Cargo Services BG bought for 800,000 levs. The building was reconstructed and outfitted with temperature control equipment for the storage of pharmaceutical shipments that is serviced by a staff of 40.

The company expects to be awarded by the end of this year an airport operator licence that will allow it to handle outgoing shipments as well.

Millitzer&Munch, which does business in 28 countries in Europe and Asia, came to Bulgaria in 1991 and then seven years later M&M Air Cargo Services BG was set up.
