UNMIK and KFOR refuse to take all the blame for the escalation of violence in Kosovo during the March riots.
This is in response to the report given by the Human Rights Watch organization that said that the two international organizations are responsible for failing to protect minority communities during the riots.
Chief of KFOR’s information service in Kosovo, Horst Piper, said that the accusations are untrue stating, "We kept the peace, and are continuing to do so."
UNMIK said that the HRW report neglected to take into consideration the fact that UNMIK and KFOR did not have enough man power to contain the violence, Beta agency reports .
The statement from UNMIK said that all 3,000 members of international police as well as the 6,000 Kosovo police officers, did everything within their ability to protect the ethnic minorities of the region that were victims of the violence in March.
