The United States ambassador to Belgrade, Michael Polt, said that Washington and Belgrade are working together on locating and arresting Hague Tribunal fugitive Ratko Mladic.
There have been a number of unofficial reports in recent days that the Serbian Government is negotiating with Mladic for his surrender, that the international community has set a deadline for his arrest and that information agencies are involved in the planned arrest, radio B92 reproted.
There have also been claims that state security services are supplying foreign intelligence services with information on people linked to Mladic.
However none of this information could be verified by either Serbian or federal government bodies.
Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz quotes unnamed sources in the Serbian police as saying that the US and the EU have said they will impose sanctions on Belgrade unless Mladic is arrested in the next twenty days.
Ambassador Polt, speaking to the Beograd-based radio B92, did not directly confirm the Sarajevo report, but said that his government and Belgrade were working together for the arrest.
