ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte declared yesterday that she believed General Gotovina was still somewhere in Croatia. She also said that the ICTY Prosecution had extended its indictment against the fugitive Croatian general and passed it to the court for confirmation, HIC reported.
Del Ponte's stance significantly differs from the picture Croatian media were trying to convey over the past month, of how the Chief Prosecutor was very pleased with the new government's cooperation with The Hague. In an interview to Croatian Television Del Ponte had stated recently her office would back and support Croatia in Brussels.
