State Secretaries of the Macedonian, Albanian and Croatian Foreign Ministries will meet in January to discuss signing of a program on trilateral cooperation in the process for NATO membership.
At a press conference in Tirana on Thursday, Macedonian and Albanian Foreign Ministers Ilinka Mitreva and Ilir Meta said that integration with the European Union was a strategic goal of both countries. This goal requires appropriate preparations for the upcoming Summit in Thessaloniki, so that it will meet the expectations of Skopje and Tirana for faster Euro-integration.
Mitreva and Meta said new quality should be given to the bilateral relations, pointing out the necessity for boosting the economic cooperation, which is already defined in the Free Trade Agreement. They announced more intensified cooperation in tourism, energy, and management of the Ohrid and Prespa Lakes, particularly in regard with the Corridor 8 projects, which will enable construction of a railroad between Macedonia and Albania and infrastructure for faster regional development, reported MIA agency.
